Dr. Kent has an extensive background and will be an asset to our community. Dr. Kent went to college at the University of California-San Diego and graduated from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1984. He went on to the United States Air Force where he completed a General Practice Residency in 1985. He completed his Oral & Maxillofacial Residency in 1992 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse Wisconsin.
Dr. Kent joined the faculty at Gundersen Lutheran in 1992. He held the position of Section Chief from 1994-2007. He additionally served as Program Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency from 2001-2004 and 2007. The Gundersen Lutheran medical system is a physician led, not-for-profit health care system. It is one of the nation’s largest multi-specialty group medical practices. The system includes a 325-bed teaching hospital with over 500 physicians and dentists that provide care for a 19 county area of western Wisconsin, northeastern Iowa and southeastern Minnesota. It is the Western Clinical Campus for the University of Wisconsin Medical School. Gundersen has been named among the top 100 hospitals 10 times in the last 10 years. Dr. Kent’s section maintained two private clinics in western Wisconsin.
Dr. Kent’s commitments are not only to patient care, teaching and research, but he has been a leader in organized dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association, a fellow of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, and American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. He is the past chairman of the Wisconsin Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Membership and By-Laws committees. He is a past delegate to the Wisconsin Dental Association. He is the past president of the La Crosse District Dental Society and was a charter member of the La Crosse Implant Study Club.
