Dr. Emad Abdou is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and a Diplomate, National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and attended Hunter College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry with Honors. Following this, he attended New York University College of Dentistry for his dental education.
He completed a one-year general dental residency at Wyckoff Medical Center in Brooklyn, where his passion for surgery developed. Following this, he began his surgical training with a one-year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery internship at Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx and a four-year Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Dr. Abdou then pursued a one-year fellowship in pediatric maxillofacial surgery at the prestigious Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Australia. During his time there, he received extensive training in treating facial congenital deformities as well as neonatal & pediatric pathology under some of the world’s leading experts in the specialty. Dr. Abdou specializes in treating children and adults with facial anomalies, including cleft lip & palate, corrective jaw surgery, treatment of tumors/cysts of the face and jaws, and dentoalveolar surgery.
He is a member of the American and International Associations of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Association, and the American Dental Association. He is an active member of nonprofit organizations providing surgical care for children with congenital facial deformities worldwide.
